Job summary

Remitly is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer for the Global Card team in Arlington, VA. You will own features end to end, including UIs, APIs, and services that issue cards and move money, while operating within a fast-moving, regulated financial product environment.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics, and other engineers to deliver scalable solutions with a strong focus on security, reliability, and observability, all while embracing Remitly's culture and hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in one or more backend or full-stack languages (Go, Kotlin, Java, TypeScript).
• Experience designing secure, scalable, and performant software using cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Experience leading projects at team level, breaking features into workstreams, estimating timelines, and mentoring engineers.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity in requirements and cross-team dependencies.
• Ability to articulate best practices for error handling, observability, and operational excellence.
• 5+ years of software engineering in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical standard for code quality, testing, and extensibility.
• Lead team projects, break down features, estimate delivery, and drive execution.
• Uphold security, reliability, observability, and quality standards across the stack.
• Mentor and grow the team through code reviews and design discussions.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics and other teams to translate needs into scalable solutions.
• Communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
