Job summary

Workday Government is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in IxP to support U.S. Federal Government contracts. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a security clearance; TS/SCI w/CI Poly is preferred.

On-site work in the DC/MD/VA DMV area may be required. You will collaborate with product, design, and research teams to deliver high‑security enterprise services. Ideal candidates will be strong individual contributors, mentor others, and balance rapid feature delivery

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and deploying secure, high‑throughput systems.
• 4+ years backend development with Java or Kotlin (Spring Boot or similar) and service-oriented architectures.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with TypeScript (browser or Node.js).

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain robust, efficient, and testable code using TypeScript, Kotlin, Python, Rust, and JVM frameworks.
• Design features with focus on scalability, performance, monitoring, security, usability, and quality.
• Own day-to-day operations of services you build, including on-call support with infra teams.
• Balance feature speed with reliability using well-defined SLOs to guide tradeoffs.
• Lead technical discussions and provide strategic technical influence within the team.
• Mentor others and drive improvements to product and CI/CD pipelines.
