Job summary

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy a web-based platform that federates LINCS data and tools.

You will lead technical design, collaborate with scientists, and guide junior engineers while building scalable, production-ready web applications using Node.js and React. You will work in an interdisciplinary team, implement APIs, optimize performance, participate in code reviews, and ensure documentation and deployment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in software development.
• Proficiency with Node.js and React for full-stack development.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and data modeling for SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript/HTML/CSS.
• Experience with Express.js, Nest.js or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with testing (Jest/Cypress) and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative work.
• Experience deploying scalable software in research/clinical environments.
• Familiarity with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Plotly.js).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack development across web applications and APIs.
• Collaborate with designers, PMs, and scientists to define features.
• Write clean, scalable code and conduct code reviews.
• Build server-side components and APIs for frontend integration.
• Ensure robust testing and debugging of applications.
• Document deployment instructions and user guides for adoption.
• Maintain production-grade web applications within a cross-functional team.
• Drive release planning and coordinate across sites.
