Job summary

Brex is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer for the Task Workflows Platform in Seattle. This hybrid role requires at least three days in the office weekly (Mon, Wed, Thu) with up to four weeks fully remote per year.

You'll build and scale infrastructure powering core experiences across Brex, including notifications, collaboration, and a domain-specific workflow builder, while advancing AI-powered user workflows and scalable backend APIs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and deploying full-stack products.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Python).
• Experience architecting, building, and maintaining scalable, high-availability distributed systems.
• Experience designing and optimizing SQL and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling, query performance tuning, and schema design.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.
• Experience with modern frontend technologies and tools like ES6+, React, TypeScript, and Webpack.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers across the company to build new features and products end-to-end
• Own problems end-to-end, thinking through everything from user experience, data models, scalability, operability and ongoing metrics.
• Provide technical leadership to team by driving roadmap direction, architectural design and mentorship
• Work side-by-side with user-facing teams (Sales, Support) to best understand the needs of our customers.
• Tune and polish features to a high degree of excellence.
• Identify and implement reliability and performance improvements
• Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the codebases, infrastructure, and processes you will encounter
