Job summary

Wilcore Technologies, Inc. is seeking a results-oriented engineer to join the Engineering Excellence Response Team (EERT) supporting federal digital modernization. You will embed with VA system owners to resolve Code Yellow incidents, write code, and improve pipelines and observability across diverse stacks.

You will work in unfamiliar codebases and languages, using AI coding tools to ramp quickly, while ensuring security, change control, and timely delivery for mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Must have working fluency in at least one modern backend language and ability to pick up unfamiliar stacks.
• Solid fundamentals: Git workflows, CI/CD, testing, REST API design, relational databases.
• Practical cloud experience (prefer AWS) beyond tutorials.
• Able to operate inside another team’s production system with care for security and change control.

Responsibilities

• Deploy rapidly to VA's most complex Engineering Issues, embedding with VA system owners and resolving Code Yellow incidents within a ~90-day window.
• Conduct impact analysis and define success criteria for Code Yellows.
• Build and modify full stack applications and APIs across various stacks as needed.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
• Instrument systems for observability and reliability, including SLOs and dashboards.
