Job summary

Northwoods seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own end-to-end delivery of features on Traverse and Grove. You will design data models, Rails services, API contracts, and React/TypeScript components, while mentoring peers and maintaining code quality in a hybrid Dublin, OH office environment.

You’ll review code, participate in on-call, and apply AI-assisted development practices daily to ship reliable software for Health and Human Services customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience in a SaaS or web product environment, with ownership of features from design to production.
• Proficiency with Ruby on Rails and a modern JS/TS frontend (React preferred), plus relational database design in PostgreSQL.
• Working knowledge of AWS at the application layer to deploy, debug, and operate features.
• Experience reviewing others' code and mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Own features and epics end to end from refinement to production follow-up with minimal direction.
• Design data models, Rails models, services, API contracts, and React/TypeScript component structure.
• Participate in refinement, surface risks, and split work into end-to-end slices.
• Write and own automated tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
• Follow established architecture patterns and security-by-default practices.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, code review, and feedback.
