Job summary
Peraton is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to support the USGS Volcano Hazards Program. You will be an embedded technical contributor, designing, developing, and deploying a cloud-ready database and visualization tools to support M&E workflows for five observatories and the VDAP program.
The role includes PostgreSQL/PostGIS database design, Python backend API development, and React-based front-end with GIS visualization.
Qualifications
- Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing relational databases with spatial data types.
- Proficiency building RESTful APIs using FastAPI or Flask; ETL workflows.
- Strong front-end skills using React and modern JavaScript.
- Hands-on GIS development with ArcGIS, GDAL/OGR, PostGIS; web mapping libraries.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a cloud-ready relational database (PostgreSQL/PostGIS) for VHP M&E data.
- Develop RESTful APIs in Python to expose database functionality; build ETL pipelines.
- Create web/mobile data entry and reporting interfaces using React/TypeScript.
- Build GIS-enabled visualization tools and dashboards for M&E analysis.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders; ensure security, accessibility, and documentation.
