Job summary

Western Alliance Bank seeks a Staff Engineer II to lead full-stack development for entitlement services. You will architect, implement, and optimize secure applications using Angular, .NET, and SQL Server, guiding cross-functional teams and mentoring engineers.

The role demands experience in microservices, Azure cloud, and DevOps practices to ensure reliability and compliance across the enterprise. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of applications using Angular, .NET and SQL.
• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• Strong front-end development with Angular, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Advanced back-end development using C#, .NET Core, and RESTful API design.
• Hands-on experience with SQL data modeling for scalable systems.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system design.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and building cloud-native applications.
• Proficiency in DevOps practices including CI/CD, Git, and automated deployments.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and production support in enterprise environments.
• Strong system design skills with ability to build scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
• Ability to lead technical direction, mentor developers, and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
• Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Additional experience with pipeline development and leveraging Azure DevOps while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals. Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level. Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews and architectural compliance.
• Advanced speaking and writing communication skills with ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, develop, and support secure, scalable applications for entitlement services across the enterprise.
• Design, implement, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures.
• Lead technical solution design and collaborate with engineering and business teams.
• Mentor developers and drive engineering excellence with solid architecture, observability, resiliency, and operational best practices.
• Design and maintain robust applications using Angular and .NET; translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and ensure IT policy compliance.
• Produce desktop procedures when needed for others to follow.
