Job summary

Deseret Book Company is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer in Salt Lake City with hybrid schedule. You will own the technical direction of a core business area, define architecture, and ship scalable web applications on AWS while maintaining systems health.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of development, strong JavaScript framework experience (TanStack Start or Svelte), and solid PostgreSQL/MySQL/OpenSearch skills, plus AWS expertise and excellent collaboration abilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of development experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks such as TanStack Start or Svelte.
• Experience building and maintaining full-stack web applications.
• Experience building and maintaining integrations between different systems.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases.
• Solid experience with OpenSearch or similar search engines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly Bedrock, Lambda and EventBridge.
• Experience with code review processes and maintaining code quality standards.
• Strong project planning and estimation skills.
• Experience with version control systems.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction of a core business area end-to-end.
• Define architecture and build scalable AWS-based web applications.
• Pay down technical debt and implement monitoring and upgrades.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate business needs into tech solutions.
• Communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and facilitate decisions.
