Expedia Group is seeking a senior software engineer in Seattle to design, build, and evolve scalable services with a focus on API design and data modeling. You will collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate complex problems into incremental deliverables and robust designs.

You will own low-level design, contribute to reliable, observable services, and help drive best practices, including on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Several years of professional software development experience building and operating production services or applications.
• Proven experience owning the design and implementation of services or components including low-level design, API design, and data modeling within a defined product or domain.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and related frameworks; strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
• Experience improving reliability, performance, and maintainability through testing, monitoring, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver robust, scalable services and applications with quality tests across the full software lifecycle.
• Own and evolve low-level design, API contracts, and data models within your domain for reliable integration.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and peer teams to convert complex problems into actionable plans.
• Promote engineering best practices for code quality, observability, and on-call readiness.
• Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions and apply AI concepts to real-world products.
