Job summary

Bonterra seeks a senior full-stack engineer to help nonprofits scale impact with AI-powered software. You will help design and build reliable features across frontend and backend, collaborating with a mission-driven team that values creativity, autonomy, and growth.

You will work with React, Node.js/TypeScript, REST/GraphQL, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and AWS. Ideal candidates ship valuable products and mentor teammates while embracing AI tooling to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript development.
• Strong React experience including architecture, state management, and performance.
• Backend API/Services with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with REST APIs and GraphQL.
• Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions or CircleCI.
• Experience in AWS or similar cloud.
• Excellent problem solving and collaboration.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, Claude).

Responsibilities

• Design and build features across the full stack (backend APIs and frontend).
• Own features from planning to demo with peer reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA.
• Leverage AI tools as part of daily development.
• Contribute to shipping value-driven solutions for clients.
