Job summary

Sallie Mae is seeking an Engineer III to own technically challenging work across front-end, back-end, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure. You’ll design, develop, and support scalable applications while collaborating with product managers and designers to solve real customer problems.

The role emphasizes reliability and maintainability with modern development practices, including AI-assisted tooling and potential ML/RAG integrations. A hybrid work arrangement is offered.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Python/JavaScript/TypeScript/Java/Go/C#).
• Experience deploying software in a production environment.
• Cloud infrastructure experience, AWS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and deploy robust software with emphasis on reliability and scalability.
• Own moderately complex features and technical initiatives across full-stack.
