Job summary

Sallie Mae is seeking a Manager of Product Development to own the vision, strategy, and end-to-end roadmap for digital lending products. This role emphasizes hands-on AI to accelerate discovery, decisions, and delivery across engineering, design, and marketing teams.

Qualifications

• 5 years of product management/development experience owning and delivering products.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business administration, or related field.
• Proven product ownership with vision, roadmap, and backlog accountability.
• Hands-on experience applying AI tools in a product management context (e.g., generative AI, ML-driven features).
• Strong understanding of agile, backlog management, and user-centered design skills.
• Analytical, data-driven mindset with ability to define metrics and run experiments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to align cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the product vision, strategy, and end-to-end roadmap.
• Prioritize and refine the product backlog with clear trade-offs and acceptance criteria.
• Define and execute product development strategies aligned with market needs.
• Implement effective project management processes for efficient delivery.
• Serve as primary decision-maker, coordinating engineering, design, marketing, and compliance.
• Define success metrics and KPIs and drive data-informed roadmap decisions.
• Represent the voice of the customer through discovery and validation.
• Embed AI into product management and development lifecycles.
• Lead delivery with engineering and design in agile ceremonies.
• Monitor product performance and report KPI progress to stakeholders.
