Job summary

Taskrabbit in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer for our AI & Innovation team to improve financial infrastructure and customer money experiences. You’ll write robust Node.js code, shape APIs, and own key backend/frontend components in a hybrid work setting.

The role demands 5+ years building distributed systems, strong SQL (Postgres/Snowflake), Kafka, observability, and a collaborative mindset to ship scalable features across teams.

Qualifications

• 5 years of professional software engineering including frontend and backend with demonstrated impact.
• Experience with Node.js and microservices; Rails is a plus.
• Strong SQL and data modeling for Postgres and Snowflake.
• Hands-on with async/event-driven systems (Kafka) and microservice architecture.
• Proven ownership of observability/alerting for critical systems.
• Designing, building, debugging, and scaling distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect multi-quarter technical roadmap for AI & Innovation team (backend, frontend, APIs).
• Tech Lead on complex cross-team initiatives.
• Translate ambiguous business goals into clear technical strategies and experiments.
• Mentor engineers, promote high-quality testing and durable docs.
• Champion Spec-Driven Development (SDD) leveraging AI tools for Node.js implementations and tests.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted tooling to ensure robust, scalable systems.
