Focused in Chicago is seeking an experienced hands-on, full stack engineer to lead teams and deliver complex software for diverse clients. You will set technical direction, pair program daily with teammates and clients, and own the testing strategy across the codebase.

Qualifications

• Hands-on, full stack engineer with a track record of delivering software in agile environments.
• Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring developers.
• Proficient in Python and/or JS/TypeScript; strong opinions on repo layout, dependencies, tooling.

Responsibilities

• Write substantial code across the stack and drive end-to-end delivery.
• Lead teams through delivery from backend services to modern web UIs.
• Set technical direction for client engagements and serve as escalation point.
• Pair program daily with teammates and clients to share knowledge and improve code quality.
• Own testing strategy with TDD and continuous refactoring, including what not to test.
• Guide architecture decisions for scalability, observability, and performance including deployment and IAM for containerized systems.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver valuable software.
• Map business value to engineering effort to help clients trade off priorities.
• Mentor developers and foster healthy engineering culture; drive process improvements.
