Citian, based in Washington, DC, is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to expand existing projects and innovate new transportation-focused software. The role requires at least 5+ years in full stack development and a willingness to own projects within a fast-growing startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience, ideally in a startup environment.
• Portfolio of full stack projects (web, application, or game development).
• Proficiency with modern web tools: Typescript, React, Next.js, NodeJS, Express.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms and optimization.
• Experience with Python/SQL and data retrieval/storage in back-end systems.
• Experience building RESTful APIs with testing in Postman.
• Cloud experience with AWS (S3, Lambda) is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Develop full stack applications (web, mobile) spanning front-end and back-end.
• Collaborate with teammates via GitLab and communicate deadlines clearly.
• Research and prototype new transportation engineering solutions.
• Brainstorm and implement modern approaches to problem-solving.

Who You Are

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Citian, you'll be expanding current projects and innovating new solutions within transportation. You will have at least 5+ years of experience developing and deploying full stack applications. You are willing to work alongside other developers to build Citian's software lineup and complete contracted software solutions. We're looking for a quick learner who is adaptable and has a strong desire to progress through the company.

As a self-starter, you are not afraid to take ownership of projects and can handle the challenges that come with a rapidly evolving startup. You are resourceful, innovative, and continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiency. Your strong communication and collaboration skills enable you to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Expected Duties

• Develop full stack applications, including both front-end and back-end components, web applications, and mobile applications
• Collaborate with other developers through GitLab
• Communicate deadlines and needs with other teammates
• Research new solutions to transportation engineering problems
• Innovate and brainstorm approaches to solutions through group sessions
• Implement modern solutions and deploy production builds

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of software development experience ideally within a startup environment
• Portfolio of projects that demonstrate full stack development (web, application, or game development)
• Experienced in modern web development tools such as Typescript, React, Next.js, NodeJS, Express
• Strong understanding of Computer Science topics such as optimization and algorithms
• Familiar with the design cycle and the concept of horizontal and vertical sliceas
• Understanding of Python/SQL code and ability to retrieve and store data safely through a back-end
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of creating and maintaining RESTful APIs, with proficiency in tools such as Postman for testing and debugging these interfaces.
• Experience with cloud services, specifically AWS, and the ability to leverage its features for scalable back-end solutions is highly desired. (S3, Lambda Function
