ABOUT VANTAGE42
Vantage42 builds AI-native intelligence software for institutional capital. Our flagship platform turns the documents, data and workflows of venture capital, private equity, LPs and family offices into a continuously updated, source-traceable view of their portfolios.
Underneath the product is a proprietary, stateful agent architecture: specialist analysis coordinated through shared, evidence-backed memory; deterministic financial calculations; and human review at consequential decision points. Each customer runs on a separate application copy and database. We are focused on institutional finance today while building technical foundations that could extend to other institutional domains over time.
We are a seed-stage, fully remote team headquartered in New York, led by fourth-time founder Ben Wald. We pair ambitious engineering with a white-glove, hospitality-first approach to customers.
THE ROLE
You’ll be one of the first engineers shaping Vantage42’s flagship institutional-investing application, working closely with the founder, CTO, Product and customers. You’ll own complex workflows across interface, backend and data, bringing evidence-backed agent analysis into reliable, intuitive experiences that investment teams use for real decisions.
This is a product-engineering role with unusual architectural depth: you’ll work with persistent state, source-linked claims, event-driven specialist agents and human approval flows, not just add a chatbot to a dashboard.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Ship exceptional institutional workflows
Build end-to-end experiences for portfolio monitoring, diligence, valuation, LP reporting, document review and investment decision-making.
Make complex agent outputs understandable: show sources, confidence, changes, disagreements and actions requiring human approval.
Work directly with investment teams and Customer Success; turn ambiguous user needs into simple, fast, resilient product experiences.
Build on a stateful agent architecture
Integrate event-driven analytical agents with typed domain models, shared evidence-backed memory and deterministic financial calculations.
Build ingestion, extraction-review, integrations and data-quality workflows that preserve source lineage from document page to recorded claim to final UI.
Improve evaluation, observability and failure handling for AI-enabled workflows; measure completion, correctness, latency and human intervention.
Raise the engineering bar
Own production quality through testing, code review, monitoring, incident follow-through and maintainable APIs and interfaces.
Collaborate with security and infrastructure engineering so new features respect customer isolation, access boundaries and controlled releases.
Help define working standards, mentor new hires and use AI development tools critically, with code quality and correctness as the bar.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
First 30 days: Ship a customer-visible improvement; understand how source evidence, agent state and permissions travel through the product.
By 90 days: Own a core workflow end to end, with clear source traceability, evaluation checks and metrics for user adoption and reliability.
By 6 months: Be the engineer trusted to deliver substantial application capabilities without compromising data integrity or the reusability of core architecture.
WHAT YOU BRING
6+ years shipping production web applications, including meaningful experience in an early-stage or fast-moving team.
Excellent SQL, relational data modeling, APIs and data pipelines; comfort working with evolving schemas and structured application state.
Hands‑on experience shipping LLM or agent‑powered functionality to real users, with rigorous evaluation, human‑in‑the‑loop design and operational monitoring.
Judgment to balance user experience, correctness, speed and maintainability; excellent written communication in a remote team.
NICE TO HAVE
Institutional finance, private markets, fund administration or portfolio analytics experience.
Source‑grounded retrieval, temporal data, provenance graphs, event‑driven systems or agent orchestration.
Document extraction, financial data normalization, secure multi‑customer SaaS or early/founding engineering experience.
COMPENSATION, LOCATION & BENEFITS
Base salary: Base salary $180,000 - $220,000
Location: Fully remote within the US, with working-hours overlap with US Eastern time and periodic travel to New York.
Benefits: Health, dental and vision coverage; flexible PTO; peer recognition through Bonusly.
