• 3–5 years of professional full stack experience (Mid)
• 5+ years, with end-to-end project leadership (Senior)
• Experience with event-driven or async architectures (queues, workers)
• Strong production experience in Python and Node.js/TypeScript
• Deep PostgreSQL skills: schema design, indexing, migrations, transactions
• Production experience with React and at least one of Vue.js or Next.js
• Experience with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy
• Proven systems design ability for scale, reliability, maintainability
• Daily use of AI-assisted coding tools
• Clear written and spoken communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Own features and services from design through production, including monitoring and on-call fixes
• Lead systems design: service boundaries, API contracts, data models, caching, queues and scaling plans
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, indexes and migrations; tune slow queries
• Build and review APIs in FastAPI and Node.js, and front ends in React, Tailwind, and Next.js
• Define team practices for AI-assisted coding: review standards, security and testing guardrails
• Drive testing strategy across unit, integration and end-to-end tests, and keep CI fast and reliable
• Write design docs, lead technical discussions and make clear trade-off decisions
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code review and scoped stretch work

CheckedUp is building a high-impact analytics function that operates as a strategic partner to the business, not a reporting team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own features and services from design through production, including monitoring and on-call fixes.
• Lead systems design: service boundaries, API contracts, data models, caching, queues and scaling plans.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, indexes and migrations; tune slow queries.
• Build and review APIs in FastAPI and Node.js, and front ends in React, Tailwind, and Next.js (SSR/SSG where it fits).
• Define team practices for AI-assisted coding: where it helps, review standards, security and testing guardrails.
• Drive testing strategy across unit, integration and end-to-end tests, and keep CI fast and reliable.
• Write design docs, lead technical discussions and make clear trade-off decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code review and scoped stretch work.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Mid: 3–5 years of professional full stack experience.
• Senior: 5+ years, with a record of leading projects end to end.
• Event-driven or async architectures (message queues, background workers).
• Strong production experience in Python and Node.js/TypeScript.
• Deep PostgreSQL skills: schema design, indexing, query plans, migrations and transactions.
• Production experience with React and at least one of Vue.js or Next.js.
• Experience with FastAPI (or a similar framework) and SQLAlchemy (or a similar ORM).
• Proven systems design ability: can design a service for scale, reliability and maintainability and explain the trade-offs.
• Daily, discerning use of AI-assisted coding tools.
• Clear written and spoken communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Advertising industry experience
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP or Azure), Docker and infrastructure as code such as Terraform.
• Observability tooling: logging, metrics, tracing.
• Experience with compliance or audit requirements, such as change management controls.

COMPENSATION

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included. Salary range is $190,000-$200,000.
