Job summary

Hilo Labs is seeking a Full Stack Developer (Backend-Focused) to build scalable backends and turn Figma designs into production-ready features. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team on client projects, then own entire projects as you grow.

You’ll work across the stack—from Nest.js/Node.js/PHP backends to Vue/Ionic/React frontends—collaborating via GitHub, Jira, and Notion. AWS familiarity and DevOps workflows are a plus as you grow toward lead developer responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of full stack development experience.
• Strong backend architecture and API design knowledge.
• Experience with at least one frontend framework (Vue, React, or Ionic).

At Hilo Labs, we help founders and businesses bring digital products to life - fast. We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer (Backend-Focused) who’s excited by variety: one day architecting a scalable API, the next integrating a Figma design into a client-facing app.

You’ll start on one of our client projects in a small, fast-moving team, then take ownership of entire projects as you grow.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain backend systems using Nest.js, Node.js, or PHP
• Work with MySQL or MongoDB
• Implement frontends using Vue, Ionic, or React, turning Figma designs into production-ready code
• Collaborate with other developers through GitHub, Jira, and Notion
• Participate in architecture discussions and make decisions that balance scalability and speed
• Manage deployments and DevOps workflows (AWS familiarity is a plus)
• Communicate progress clearly - both internally and with clients
• Take initiative to improve systems and contribute new ideas
