Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a senior full stack software engineer for Disney Experiences in Orlando, FL. You will focus on backend architecture, scalable APIs, distributed services, and data solutions across guest-facing platforms and internal systems.

You will collaborate with product and architecture teams, drive best practices, mentor engineers, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality across cloud-native deployments.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years software engineering experience with production-grade enterprise applications.
  • Advocate for diverse and inclusive culture.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience as a full stack engineer with backend in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and frontend in React/Angular/JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Relational DB design and query optimization; familiarity with NoSQL.
  • Experience designing scalable, cloud-native apps with microservices, event-driven architectures, API design, and performance optimization.
  • Experience building/ supporting enterprise-scale solutions and production systems (monitoring, incident response, RCA, continuous improvement).
  • Experience deploying secure cloud-native apps on AWS/Azure/GCP with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and secure practices.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted engineering tools to improve delivery, code quality, testing, and productivity.
  • Experience with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics).
  • Experience mentoring engineers and working in Agile environments.
  • Continuous learner with a passion for emerging tech.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design discussions and architectural decisions for enterprise applications and services.
  • Drive best practices for scalability, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Partner with product, architecture, and business teams to decompose complex requirements into technical solutions.
  • Identify technical debt and propose modernization strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
  • May lead small projects spanning analysis, design, programming, debugging, and enhancements for local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet apps.
  • Perform testing and debugging of applications.
  • Code at the component level for large, sophisticated software programs.
  • Interact with users to define system requirements and necessary modifications.
  • Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components and new systems.
  • Design scalable software systems and stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, and documentation, validating AI outputs.
