Job summary

Expedia Group seeks a Senior Full Stack Agentic AI Engineer to build proactive travel-planning experiences within Layla. You will own end-to-end efforts across agent orchestration, backend services, data retrieval, and user-facing product interfaces at scale.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering to translate business opportunities into reliable, maintainable AI-powered travel experiences, while applying strong software engineering practices and responsible-AI

Qualifications

• BS/BE in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering delivering production systems end-to-end.
• Experience building full-stack applications with backend services and modern web interfaces.
• Professional experience integrating LLMs or AI/ML capabilities into production products.
• Experience with agentic patterns: tool-using agents, multi-step workflows, orchestration, RAG, function calling.
• Strong programming ability in at least one backend language (Python/Java/TypeScript) and frontend stack.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate agentic AI experiences for travel discovery, planning, personalization, and booking workflows.
• Build reliable agent orchestration patterns: planning, tool use, routing, memory, retries, guardrails, human confirmation.
• Develop backend services, data models, integrations, and event-driven workflows connecting agent experiences to Expedia Layla capabilities.
• Create user-facing interfaces that clearly convey AI behavior and are usable across web and product surfaces.
• Implement retrieval, grounding, and knowledge strategies with data contracts, embeddings, search, and ranking.
• Establish evaluation/observability for agentic systems: quality, latency, cost, safety, failure modes.
