Job summary

Expedia Group's Layla AI team seeks a Senior Full Stack Agentic AI Engineer to build proactive travel-planning experiences at scale. You will work across agent orchestration, backend services, data and retrieval systems, and user-facing product experiences, turning AI capabilities into reliable traveler workflows.

This high-autonomy role emphasizes ownership, collaboration with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering, and mentoring teammates while delivering measurable outcomes for travelers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering production systems end to end.
• Experience integrating LLMs or AI/ML into production products.
• Experience with agentic patterns such as tool use, orchestration, RAG.
• Strong backend skills (Python/Java/Kotlin/Go/TS) and frontend experience.
• Experience designing APIs, services, data models, and monitoring.
• Clear communication of tradeoffs with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate agentic AI experiences for travel discovery and planning.
• Develop reliable agent orchestration patterns.
• Build backend services, APIs, data models, integrations.
• Create user-facing experiences across web and surfaces.
• Integrate retrieval and grounding strategies.
• Establish evaluation and observability practices.
• Own a meaningful product surface from framing to iteration.
• Translate ambiguous opportunities into testable increments.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, Engineering to shape direction.
• Apply strong software engineering practices incl. CI/CD, security, incident response.
• Use AI-assisted tools while maintaining accountability.
• Mentor teammates and raise quality via reviews.
