Job summary

Protingent is seeking a Fuel Performance Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN to architect high-fidelity models of TRISO fuel behavior and drive verification activities. You will manage complex simulations, translate outputs for licensing submissions, and ensure documentation lives in the Siemens Teamcenter PLM system.

The role requires 8+ years in fuel-performance or related modeling, with strong experience in multiphysics and safety-significant analyses. Onsite involvement in Oak Ridge is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years in fuel-performance, multiphysics or mechanistic modeling.
• Experience leading safety-significant analyses and PLM-based documentation.
• Knowledge of TRISO fuel behavior, coatings, and irradiation effects.
• Experience with code verification, validation and uncertainty analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity computational models of fuel behavior from TRISO particle to fuel blocks.
• Run transient and LOFC simulations and evaluate thermal-mechanical responses.
• Translate modeling outputs into inputs for irradiation experiments and licensing docs.
• Lead V&V activities for fuel performance codes (e.g., BISON).
• Ensure QA via Siemens Teamcenter for all data and workflows.
• Integrate manufacturing, irradiation, PIE and safety-test data into KRONOS limits.
