Upstart is seeking a Software Engineer for the Unsecured Installments team. You will build and improve frontend and full-stack borrower flows using React and TypeScript, coordinating with backend, product, and design to connect pricing, underwriting, and funding systems.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, strong coding practices, and improvement of borrower experiences, with opportunities to work remotely from the US/Canada and occasional in-person onsites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience with 4–5+ years of software engineering.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain borrower-facing web experiences using React and TypeScript.
• Connect frontend experiences to backend services and APIs for full-stack features.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to ship features.
• Write well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability of the experiences you own.
• Support experimentation and iterative improvements using data and feedback.
