Job summary

Toyota North America is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Frontend to drive end-to-end front-end solutions using React and Next.js. You will influence peers, own features through design and deployment, and push for high-quality, scalable code across stack.

You will collaborate with Product and Design teams to deliver impactful features, mentor junior engineers, and help improve performance and reliability while leveraging AWS-based front-end hosting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong front-end focus.
• Proficiency in React and Next.js with SSR/SSG/App Router patterns.
• Strong TypeScript and Tailwind CSS experience.
• Experience deploying front-end apps on AWS (CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, S3, API Gateway).

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-quality front-end features using React and Next.js patterns.
• Build and maintain backend API services supporting front-end needs (RESTful and GraphQL).
• Take ownership of features from design through deployment — including testing, observability, and post-launch monitoring.
• Participate in technical design discussions, contributing well-reasoned proposals and tradeoff analysis.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across the front-end and API layers — from UI rendering bugs to slow API responses.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and hold a high bar in code reviews.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver impactful features.
• Identify and address tech debt, performance issues, and reliability gaps proactively.
