Job summary

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) in Plano, TX, seeks a Sr Lead Engineer - Frontend to drive frontend architecture and deliver full-stack features with React, Next.js, and TypeScript. You will mentor engineers, lead RFCs, and partner across Product and Design to ensure technically feasible roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 7+ years of software engineering with frontend focus at principal or staff engineer level
• Deep expertise in React and Next.js (App Router, SSR, SSG, ISR)
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript
• Tailwind CSS and design systems (e.g., shadcn/ui)
• State management with Zustand/Redux Toolkit
• RESTful and GraphQL APIs with API contracts (tRPC/OpenAPI codegen)
• Serverless backend on AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, CloudFront, S3, DynamoDB/RDS)
• Frontend performance and CWV, code splitting, lazy loading
• Testing: Vitest/Jest, Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress
• Monorepos tooling (Turborepo/Nx) and modern build tools (Vite/Webpack)
• Strong communication and RFC leadership
• Added bonus if you have: Master's degree, experience in financial services, design systems ownership, micro-frontend patterns

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for frontend architecture across product domains
• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features from UIs to APIs
• Lead design reviews, RFCs, and align engineering teams
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, reliability gaps, and tech debt
• Own complex debugging across the full stack from browser to services
• Define and champion engineering best practices: testing, observability, deployment safety
• Collaborate with managers, product, and design to shape roadmaps
• Mentor engineers and participate in technical interviews
• Communicate risks and tradeoffs to stakeholders
