Job summary

athenahealth seeks a Senior Software Engineer focused on frontend rearchitecture in Boston. You will craft modern web interfaces to support clinical workflows, using React and TypeScript patterns, in a hybrid work setting reporting to a Principal Member of Technical Staff.

The role is part of the Clinicals Front End Rearchitecture Initiative, standardizing frontend architecture, data access via GraphQL, and building a shared component library with Node.js support for tooling and lightweight

Qualifications

Experience building component-driven web applications with React.js.
Familiarity with GraphQL for client-side data fetching and API integration.
Hands-on experience with frontend tooling and modern web development practices.
Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Eng or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Build reusable, accessible UI components and establish frontend patterns for consistency across Clinicals applications.
Integrate frontend interfaces with backend services via GraphQL and RESTful endpoints.
Leverage Node.js to support build tooling, SSR, or lightweight middleware as needed.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into user-centered interfaces.
Analyze existing frontend codebases and contribute to migration toward a unified React-based architecture.
Write clean, testable frontend code and participate in code reviews, unit and end-to-end testing.
