Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer II (L6) to co-own the frontend technical direction for the Ads Manager, modernize architecture, and scale complex campaign interfaces. You will partner with product, design, data science, and backend teams to deliver reusable UI abstractions and high-impact features.

You’ll mentor engineers, champion performance and observability, and drive modernization while embedding security and AI-assisted development practices across the frontend surface.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building modern web apps with ownership of complex products.
• Deep expertise in Node.js and React in large codebases.
• Strong frontend architecture, modular components, routing, data fetching.
• Experience designing REST/GraphQL APIs with backend teams.
• Proven ability to lead large multi-stakeholder projects.
• Impact on productivity and code health via abstractions and tooling.
• Experience with monitoring/observability for web apps.
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical roadmap and architecture for Ads Manager web apps.
• Build high-quality React UIs for campaigns, reporting, and optimization.
• Evolve shared components and state management for scalability.
• Collaborate with backend on API contracts and data schemas.
• Drive frontend standards, performance, and reliability initiatives.
• Mentor L3–L5 engineers and improve onboarding and practices.
• Define AI-assisted tooling patterns and foster adoption.
