Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Freight Rail Engineering Project Manager to join our Transportation Practice. The role leads planning and design teams for railroad projects nationwide with strong client interaction.

You will manage scope, staffing, budgets, quality, and safety while mentoring staff on rail engineering and design-build delivery. Travel is required and cross‑team collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (accredited).
• Minimum 7 years related experience (15 preferred).
• PE license strongly preferred.
• Experience managing rail industrial development design–build projects preferred.
• Ability to lead multi-discipline teams of engineers.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety programs and promote safety performance of project team and subcontractors.
• Lead design/build rail projects with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Develop and manage client relationships for proposals and projects.
• Lead risk reviews and coordinate with Legal as required.
• Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and objectives.
