Job summary

Plaid Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead applied fraud detection research across graphs, sequential events, images, and video data.

You will design rigorous experiments, collaborate with ML Engineers and Data Scientists, and translate research into production-ready solutions that strengthen Plaid’s fraud detection across its network. You will own a research roadmap to translate ideas into prototypes with measurable product impact, publish findings, and communicate insights

Qualifications

• PhD strongly preferred; candidates without a PhD may be considered with equivalent research experience.
• 2–4+ years of relevant industry or research lab experience with leadership and impact.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex research clearly.

Responsibilities

• Research and prototype state-of-the-art approaches across graph ML, sequential modeling, and multimodal learning.
• Own and execute a research roadmap translating ideas into production solutions with measurable impact.
• Publish and share applied research while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Leverage Plaid’s network-level financial data to derive insights for consumers.
