Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Hardware System Design Engineer, Senior Staff to own the board design lifecycle from schematic capture to verification testing on high-speed FPGA-based emulation platforms.

This role requires strong system-architecture skills, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to guide lab bring-up, testing, and production support with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in system architecture, hardware board design and signal integrity simulations.
• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Experience leading design reviews and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the board design lifecycle: schematic capture, PCB stack-up, layout, BOM management and design verification testing.
• Drive system-level architecture with customers, software and firmware teams.
• Perform SI/PI simulations for 10 Gbps+ SERDES and high-speed I/O; provide design recommendations.
• Lead FPGA board design (Xilinx/Altera) and DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 subsystems.
• Direct lab technicians during bring-up and debug; collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing teams.
• Document designs, pinouts, reviews; communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Support factory builds and NPI as needed.
