Job summary

Logos Space in San Diego is seeking a Senior FPGA Modem Engineer to design, verify, and release FPGA-based modem solutions for our LEO satellite system. You’ll work with waveform flexibility using SDR tech and collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, own end-to-end FPGA modem chains, and drive timing closure, power, and resource optimization in a fast-paced, ground-up project environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM field.
• 10+ years experience in design, development and implementation of wireless baseband modems using FPGA devices or ASIC.
• Proficient in HDL languages (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
• Experience with SystemVerilog/UVM, Cocotb or transactional-level modeling for verification.
• Knowledge of modern FPGA architecture and timing closure techniques; preferably AMD UltraScale+/Versal.
• Understanding of DFE architectures and high-speed interfaces (DDR4/5, 10/40/100 Gb Ethernet, JESD-204B/C).
• Experience with FPGA tools (Vivado) and lab debugging with scope/logic analyzers.
• Embedded software debug experience and Linux-based workflows; Git and automated testing.
• Strong communication and teamwork; ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own FPGA-based modem chains through all development phases from architecture to lab deployment.
• Define micro-architecture of high-rate FPGA modem blocks and implement in SystemVerilog/Verilog.
• Develop verification environments using golden models with SystemVerilog/UVM or Cocotb.
• Create synthesis and PnR scripts, meet timing, and optimize power/resource usage.
• Design clean hardware/software interfaces, registers, telemetry, and test hooks.
• Conduct code/design reviews and participate in multi-functional reviews.
• Collaborate with systems, HW, and FW/SW teams for lab bring-up of boards.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote FPGA best practices.
