Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies in the United States is seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to develop programmable logic for Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC, MPSoC and Versal platforms. You will implement DSP-heavy FPGA solutions, coordinate with DSP and embedded software teams, and validate high-speed data paths on PCB hardware.

The role emphasizes RTL design, simulation, timing closure, and hardware bring-up, with access to lab tools (JTAG, ILA) and collaboration across RF, DSP, and embedded Linux

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of FPGA design and development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL.
• Hands-on with Xilinx Vivado for synthesis, timing, and debug.
• Experience with Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC and Versal devices.
• Experience designing FPGA for PCB-based embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify FPGA logic with Verilog and VHDL for Zynq devices.
• Develop programmable logic architectures for DSP, control, and data movement.
• Implement DSP algorithms into RTL; support RTL design.
• Define PL–PS interfaces (AXI, DMA, interrupts).
• Integrate with embedded processors and heterogeneous compute.
• Support FPGA bring-up, debugging with JTAG/ILA.
• Create test benches, validation strategies, and SBIR deliverables.
• Support prototype-to-production transitions and ECOs.
• Design interfaces to high-speed data converters (AD and TI) with JESD204B/C.
• Develop multi-sample-per-clock architectures for wideband RF.
• Apply RF DSP concepts like sampling, mixing, filtering, and frequency conversion.
