Job summary

Canon Medical Research USA, Inc. (CMRU) seeks an FPGA/ASIC Engineer to lead architecture, design, verification, and documentation for FPGA/ASIC development in a hybrid role based in Vernon Hills, IL.

Requires a BS or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 5+ years of FPGA experience, HDL skills (VHDL/Verilog), and proficiency with Xilinx tools. This full-time role supports design through verification and collaboration across engineering teams; competitive salary and bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience in digital FPGA design for embedded systems and high-bandwidth data handling.
• Proficiency in HDL coding (VHDL, Verilog) and FPGA tools (Vivado, QuestaSim).
• Experience with hardware/software integration and lab debugging using standard test equipment.
• Ability to communicate across engineering teams to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities

• Determine architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.
• Define module interfaces for simulation.
• Develop multidimensional designs for complex IC layouts.
• Evaluate process flow from high-level design to synthesis.
• Analyze equipment to establish operation data and tests.
• Review vendor capability to support development.
• Develop digital FPGA logic for system communications, data movement, and embedded processors.
• Participate in the engineering lifecycle for FPGA products.
• Execute tasks and report status to project lead.
