Job summary

Canon Medical Research USA, Inc. (CMRU) is seeking an FPGA/ASIC Engineer to oversee definition, design, verification, and documentation for FPGA/ASIC development. Hybrid role based in Vernon Hills, IL, with a 37.5-hour week.

The role reports to the Manager, FPGA/ASIC. Requires 5+ years in FPGA/ASIC fields; expects strong HDL skills and experience with Xilinx tools and design verification. This is a full-time position with a bonus program and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 5+ years relevant experience.
• Experience in digital FPGA design for embedded systems and high-bandwidth data handling.
• Proficiency in HDL coding and FPGA tools (VHDL/Verilog, Vivado, QuestaSim).
• Ability to write and review design docs and interface guides; strong collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.
• Define module interfaces/formats for simulation.
• Develop multidimensional designs involving layout of complex ICs.
• Evaluate process flow from high-level design to timing and power use.
• Analyze equipment; conduct tests and evaluate results.
• May review vendor capability to support development.
• Develop digital FPGA logic for communications, data movement, and processing.
• Participate in FPGA product life cycle from requirements to debugging.
• Prepare design documentation and participate in design reviews.
• Execute tasks and provide status input to project or team lead.
