Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Melbourne, FL seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer - FPGA to join our Avionics team on lifecycle projects. You will design and verify RTL, develop FPGA architectures, and interact with safety-critical DO-254 processes while contributing to flight-essential hardware qualification in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

The role requires strong experience with VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog, FPGA tooling, and data interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet). Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• U.S. Person with access to ITAR/EAR information is required.
• Experience writing RTL/test benches in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Experience with FPGA tools (Questasim, Vivado, Libero, Synplify Pro).
• Experience with data interfaces (PCIe, DDR, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC-429).
• Experience with Linux/Unix, scripting, C/C++, Python, and/or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Capture requirements, decomposition, and traceability for the project.
• Develop ASIC/FPGA/SoC digital architecture and RTL design.
• Create verification testbenches and run simulations.
• Perform synthesis, place-and-route and timing analysis.
• Create DO-254 certification artifacts for AEH.
• Mentor other engineers and participate in peer reviews.
• Travel up to 10%.
