Job summary

Belcan in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Software Engineering Contractor to design and verify high-performance FPGAs for defense applications. You will drive DO-254 DAL A compliant solutions, manage requirements, and deliver through rigorous tests and documentation.

The role requires RTL coding in VHDL/Verilog, FPGA timing analysis, and experience with simulation/synthesis tools. Immediate start for a 6-month contract onsite.

Qualifications

• Experience in FPGA development with DO-254 compliance.
• Familiarity with DO-254 DAL A and Mil-516C guidance.
• Proven verification planning, testing, and tool qualification.
• Ability to document and trace requirements to verification.
• RTL coding and simulation in VHDL or Verilog.
• Knowledge of FPGA timing analysis and timing closure.
• Testbench development for RTL using VHDL/SystemVerilog.
• Experience with FPGA simulation and synthesis tools.
• Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Management: maintain hardware requirements in DOORS.
• Design and Implementation: create complex hardware designs meeting DAL A objectives.
• Verification and Validation: rigorous verification Activities and reviews.
• Tool Assessment: qualify design/verification tools for Level A hardware.
• Documentation and Compliance: detailed design decisions and traceability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with systems engineers, software teams, and cert authorities.
