Job summary

Uncommon Schools in New York seeks a Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis to own complex financial modeling and cross‑regional analysis that informs strategic planning and growth across our network of schools.

You will translate financial data into insights for school leaders, regional teams, and senior leadership, supporting resource allocation and long-term planning in a mission‑driven nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 3–4 years of professional experience, with 1–2 years in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting.
• Strong understanding of finance principles, including financial modeling and core accounting concepts.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to build complex financial models.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort learning new tools and systems and strong digital literacy.

Responsibilities

• Own complex financial modeling and cross‑regional analysis to support strategic planning and growth.
• Critically assess model assumptions and communicate implications to Finance leadership.
• Define and monitor key financial metrics for schools and regions.
• Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports with variance analyses.
• Create clear visuals and summaries for internal stakeholders at all levels.
