Job summary

Merck in Rahway, NJ seeks a Finance Senior Specialist to support the Oncology Collaborations Finance team. You will partner with Global Project and Alliance Management, develop budgets and forecasts, and perform monthly close tasks in a GAAP framework.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with PDT Leaders and external partners, ensuring compliance and strong financial planning within the R&D pipeline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, Science or Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of operations or Finance experience.
• MBA, CPA or other Masters/PhD in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering - preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop business operations models.
• Strong financial acumen and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven ability to influence and build client relationships.
• Strong communication and Excel, SAP, Power BI skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist and provide support with assigned external Alliance partners.
• Act as primary Finance contact with Global Project and Alliance Management, PDT Leaders, Alliance Managers, and Third-Party Partners.
• Develop expense budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range operating plans.
• Perform monthly close tasks including journal entries and variance analysis.
• Support governance interactions (Late Development Review Committee, Joint Finance Committee, etc.).
• Provide financial information to support project team decisions.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to internal and external accounting guidance.
• Maintain internal control processes per Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
