Job summary

Buffalo Sabres is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting. The role partners with the SVP of Finance to drive profitable growth and operational efficiency across the organization.

You will oversee long-range financial planning, develop models, analyze variances, and deliver timely reports to senior leadership. This in-office role requires strong leadership and strategic financial acumen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; MBA preferred.
• Minimum 8 years progressive finance experience with leadership exposure.
• 5+ years direct supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat is required.
• Experience with NetSuite, SAP Concur or KORE is a plus.
• Ability to work nontraditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting, and long-range planning with executives.
• Develop financial models for revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow and capex.
• Analyze variances, trends, risks and opportunities; propose corrective actions.
• Oversee NHL/AHL/NLL league financial reporting including HRR and URO.
• Coordinate internal/external audits with finance, legal and HR.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial performance reports for leadership.
• Answer budget questions and reconcile department budgets.
• Mentor and develop junior staff within the department.
• Translate financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Oversee internal systems for FP&A, reporting, AP and T&E; suggest improvements.
