Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a Financial Analyst III to join its hybrid team with travel flexibility to locations including Newark, DE. You will support strategic planning, budgeting, and performance analysis for the business unit, delivering consolidated senior-management presentations and variance analyses.

The role requires 5+ years in financial planning and analysis, experience with SAP or similar ERP, Power BI, Qlik or Tableau, and strong GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of business planning, financial analysis, or related finance experience.
• Experience with ERP systems and analytics tools (SAP or similar, Power BI, Qlik, Tableau).
• Regular driver's license.
• Basic accounting knowledge (GAAP).
• Experience in the utility industry or FP&A preferred.
• Strong project management skills to plan, lead, and coordinate initiatives across the business unit and finance.
• Clear, concise communication with managers, directors, and senior staff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
• High initiative and ability to be self-directed.
• Ability to prioritize multiple requests and respond creatively to unique situations.
• Ability to identify efficiencies to improve financial processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares consolidated summary presentations for senior management's review.
• Supports development of strategic plan, budgets, performance indicators, and target benchmarks.
• Produces monthly reporting package with variance analysis vs prior year, budget, and forecast.
• Performs complex financial forecasting, modeling, and trend analysis.
• Captures and reports KPIs, highlights trends, analyzes variances.
• Prepares feasibility studies for capital investments.
• Analyzes cost allocations and reports on budget/period variances.
• Conducts special financial studies (cost of service, ROE, capital structure, depreciation).
• Researches historical data to inform executive decisions.
