Job summary

Lambda, The Superintelligence Cloud, is seeking an FP&A professional to own budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete analyses for Engineering and Product initiatives in our San Francisco/San Jose offices. You will quantify capacity, optimize fleet usage, and model ROIs for NPI and cloud services investments.

You will partner with Engineering and Product to manage OpEx, headcount planning, and monthly close, delivering insights for executive reviews and board materials while driving cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 4+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, or consulting, ideally with Cloud/AI infra, SaaS, Data centers, Telecom, Hardware, or industrials.
• Direct experience partnering with Engineering or Product on budget, roadmap, and investment decisions.
• Extensive experience in financial modeling and analysis, capable of building complex financial models and interpreting statements to drive decisions.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and decision‑making skills.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with financial software systems.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment, balancing multiple complex projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly.
• Team player with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Able to work in an ambiguous environment with very little direction.

Responsibilities

• Own project-level budgets, spend tracking, and cost-to-complete forecasts for Engineering and Product initiatives.
• Quantify internal capacity consumption across development, testing, and benchmarking; build allocation and chargeback methods.
• Partner with Infrastructure and Engineering on fleet optimization and reclamation opportunities.
• Translate optimization opportunities into quantified savings and track realization against target.
• Build business cases and ROI models for product and R&D investments.
• Establish post-investment measurement; track realized returns against underwriting.
• Analyze R&D spend by initiative and support capitalization analysis with Accounting.
• Provide prioritization frameworks and trade-offs for competing investment requests.
• Serve as finance partner across the NPI lifecycle, from concept to launch and ramp.
• Model pricing, unit economics, margin, and volume assumptions for new offerings.
• Own stage-gate financial deliverables and launch readiness criteria.
• Track post-launch performance and inform go/no-go decisions.
• Own OpEx and headcount planning, tracking, and reporting for Engineering, Product, and Cloud Services.
• Maintain hiring plans, compensation assumptions, and org change tracking.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly budget vs actual analyses and explain variances.
• Manage vendor, software, and tooling spend; support accruals and reclassifications.
