Job summary

MongoDB is seeking a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer in New York City to shape the technical strategy of the FDE domain. You will lead multi-quarter roadmaps, drive architecture standards, and mentor senior engineers while maintaining hands-on involvement on critical systems.

You will collaborate with executives and product teams, align cross-portfolio decisions, and influence hiring and career development to raise the organization's technical bar.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience with hands-on leadership in production systems.
• Experience setting organizational technical strategy and direction.
• Proven ability to design and direct production-grade integrations or distributed systems.
• Excellent technical judgment in high ambiguity and risk/impact tradeoffs.
• Ability to influence VP/executive stakeholders on strategic direction.
• Mentor senior engineers and participate in staffing and leveling decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the FDE organization's engagement strategy as the primary technical escalation point.
• Partner with customer executives and internal leadership on strategic bets and risks.
• Set architecture standards and design principles for multi-quarter technical strategy.
• Remain hands-on when needed, writing/reviewing code and solving critical failures.
• Translate field patterns into the domain's long-term technical vision for leadership.
• Develop and mentor FDEs, contribute to hiring and leveling decisions.
• Represent the FDE function in executive and cross-org planning forums.
