Job summary

E Source, a utilities-focused research, data/analytics, and technology firm, seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer, AI/ML to embed with utility clients and turn AI demos into trusted production systems. You’ll collaborate with the AI, data engineering, software engineering, and consulting teams to deliver impactful solutions in client environments.

You will own engagements end to end, from discovery through deployment and adoption, with rapid iteration to production while ensuring governance,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Five+ years of engineering experience, including GenAI/ML systems shipped to production.
• Expert proficiency in Python and working knowledge of at least one of TypeScript, Scala, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Embed with utility clients to design, build, and deploy GenAI and ML systems in the client environment.
• Own the technical architecture of each engagement — retrieval, orchestration, model selection, serving, evaluation, and monitoring.
• Run technical discovery independently and advocate for correct solutions over requested ones.
• Deliver a working system early in each engagement and iterate toward production hardening.
• Design task-specific evaluations and define “correct” with SME input before release.
• Build retrieval and grounding systems over client data sources.
• Integrate with client data platforms and legacy systems.
• Instrument systems to measure accuracy, latency, cost, and drift; hand off operations to the client.
• Develop operator-facing apps, dashboards, and interfaces usable by client teams.
