Job summary

Fortress is seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge customer success, solution engineering, cybersecurity, and data engineering for U.S. power utilities and government customers. This role delivers hands-on engineering in approved environments and turns learnings into repeatable capabilities.

You will write secure code, analyze multi-source data, and present findings to executives while identifying opportunities to expand product capabilities and drive customer impact.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years experience combining software/data engineering, cybersecurity analysis, and customer-facing solution engineering.
• Hands-on experience developing AI-agentic workflows (LLM-based automation, agent orchestration).
• Ability to access, normalize, and analyze large multi-source data sets.
• Ability to write secure, production-grade Python code in regulated environments.
• Strong executive communication skills for presenting to leadership.
• Able to operate independently in embedded customer environments and manage priorities.
• Must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with U.S. power utility and government customers to reduce cyber risk and respond to AI-assisted threats.
• Understand customer processes, systems, data, cyber posture, and constraints.
• Answer urgent cyber questions about products, vendors, assets, or supply chain relations affected by threats.
• Access, normalize, and compare data across vulnerability management, endpoint, network topology, and SBOMs.
• Write secure, outcome-focused code to surface insights in approved environments.
• Convert bespoke work into product requirements for scalable capabilities.
• Identify expansion opportunities by demonstrating value and shaping repeatable use cases.
• Present findings to customer executives, technical teams, and internal stakeholders.
