Job summary

Syngenta Crop Protection is seeking a Senior Formulation Engineer in Greensboro, NC to join our Product Technology and Engineering Team. You will lead scale-up activities, optimize formulation processes, and ensure safety and compliance across sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 2+ years in formulation processing or similar technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of formulation processing, scale-up activities, process risk assessment, and product lifecycle management.
  • Strong project and time management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and cross-functional audiences.
  • Experience building collaborative partnerships across functions, regions, and stakeholder groups.
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.

Responsibilities

  • Scale-up formulation processes from lab to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and provide solutions to manufacturing.
  • Lead inter-site technology transfer or re-siting of products and support startup teams.
  • Design pilot plant trials and full-scale manufacturing trials; document key process considerations and train operating teams.
  • Apply formulation engineering knowledge to improve capacity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Serve as a technical resource for engineers in North America.

Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Product Technology and Engineering Team is seeking a Senior Formulation Engineer in Greensboro, NC.

Accountabilities:

  • Support all Safety and Compliance requirements. Must be fully knowledgeable of, and compliant with, all Syngenta safety policies and department standard operating procedures. Drive a strong safety culture of individual accountability.
  • Deliver the scale-up of formulation processes from the lab to full-scale manufacturing, ensuring process safety, health, and environmental subjects are fully anticipated.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and provide solutions to manufacturing.
  • Be responsible for inter-site technology transfer or re-siting of products and serve as a member of the technical start-up team for new processes and equipment at Syngenta manufacturing sites or tollers.
  • Design pilot plant trials and full-scale manufacturing trials and document key process considerations; write technical reports and operating procedures, train operating teams, provide technical supervision, document outcomes, identify next steps, and share best practices.
  • Apply formulation engineering processing knowledge to identify solutions that improve capacity, quality, and cost efficiency at manufacturing sites and/or in the bulk supply chain, and serve as a member of, or lead, the project teams that implement these solutions.
  • Be recognized as having technical experience in formulation engineering processing and serve as a resource for other engineers in North America.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in formulation processing development, formulation manufacturing, or a similar technical discipline (advanced degrees may be considered in lieu of experience).
  • Working knowledge of formulation processing, scale-up activities, process risk assessment, and product lifecycle management.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and stakeholder requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate technical alternatives, and make recommendations that support project and business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts, findings, and recommendations clearly to technical and cross-functional audiences.
  • Experience building collaborative partnerships across functions, regions, and stakeholder groups to drive continuous improvement and achieve shared goals.
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, continuous improvement principles, innovation, and the adoption of sustainable technologies and processes.
