McKenna Labs, a manufacturer of personal care products, is currently seeking a Senior Formulation Chemist responsible for all steps of formula development from ideation to final formulation. Primary responsibilities include the innovation of new products and managing new development and reformulation in the Personal Care and OTC category.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead the formulation of world-class Personal Care and OTC products, ensuring formulas align with project briefs, timetables, and cost targets.
2. Oversee project activities, including experiment design, data analysis, and interpretation.
3. Modify formulations to improve performance, stability, and cost-effectiveness.
4. Conduct experiments to analyze physical and chemical properties of ingredients and final products.
5. Evaluate formula design and performance of competitive products.
6. Provide technical support to the R&D team.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for scale-up formulations.
8. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, maintaining a safe laboratory environment.
9. Formulate to anticipate manufacturing challenges, establishing batch procedures and product specifications.
10. Engage with customers to understand needs and develop or improve products.
11. Stay updated on new ingredients, trends, and technologies, applying them into formulations.
12. Maintain accurate documentation, including formulation records, data sheets, and SOPs.
13. Manage multiple projects, delivering high-quality products on schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or related field.
• At least 5 years of formulation experience, especially in Personal Care, OTC, or Cosmetic products.
• Experience with tech transfers and scaling up to manufacturing.
• Deep understanding of active ingredients, raw materials, efficacy, and compliance.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
• Strong project management and prioritization skills.
• Mentoring experience is a plus.
