Job summary

Thomas Young Group, a leading firm in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Forensic Engineer to investigate structural failures and provide remediation and litigation support. The role involves on-site inspections, evaluating codes and materials, and delivering expert reports.

Collaboration with legal teams and insurers is key. The ideal candidate holds a Civil/Structural degree with a PE license (or ability to obtain) and has 5+ years in forensic structural engineering, with proficiency in code

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• PE license required or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• 5+ years of experience in forensic structural engineering, failure analysis, or structural assessment.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, construction materials, and engineering principles.
• Experience with structural analysis software and finite element modeling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth investigations of structural failures, including building collapses and material degradation.
• Perform on-site inspections to assess cause of failure or damage.
• Analyze design plans, construction methods, and materials for code and standard compliance.
• Provide expert evaluations for damage caused by natural disasters, fire, explosions, and more.
• Document findings through reports, drawings, and 3D models; present conclusions clearly.
• Collaborate with legal teams, contractors, and insurance professionals to develop repair strategies.
