Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group is seeking a seasoned mechanical engineer in Detroit to perform forensic assignments, determine causes of incident-related failures, and prepare clear reports and for potential testimony. You will inspect equipment, conduct analyses, and deliver remediation recommendations.

The role requires at least 5 years of experience, a Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering degree, and FE exam completion, with PE licensure preferred. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree required with FE exam completed or in progress.
• PE licensure or ability to complete within one year is expected.
• Advanced degrees are highly valued in this role.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in machinery and equipment knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform forensic assignments within mechanical engineering scope.
• Investigate incident causes and determine mechanical failure origins.
• Inspect sites/equipment and perform analyses and calculations.
• Prepare oral and written reports detailing findings and remediation steps.
• Provide expert opinions and testimony as needed.
• Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other experts.
• Apply industry standards and safety guidelines.
