Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation is seeking a Senior Crime Scene Technician to lead evidence collection and scene processing for the police department. The role emphasizes independent work, with opportunities to train new technicians and perform advanced tasks such as 3-D laser scanning and video retrieval.

The candidate should have extensive crime lab experience, strong written/verbal communication, and the ability to generate detailed reports, photos, and diagrams for court use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forensic science (criminalistics) or related field.
• Six years of full-time experience in a crime laboratory.
• IAI/AAFS certification or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process crime scenes and collect evidence including fingerprints and DNA.
• Photograph scenes, take notes, and prepare sketches/3-D diagrams as needed.
• Provide testimony or training as needed and maintain equipment in good working order.
